Addons - Background Removal

Remove image backgrounds.

Three surfaces, by where the image comes from and how many:

• An existing asset — GET /api/v1/assets/{asset_id}/addons/bg_remove
• An uploaded image — POST /api/v1/assets/file/addons/bg_remove (add ?asset_id= to save the result as a conversion on, or inherit metadata from, an existing asset)
• A whole selection — POST /api/v1/assets/bulk/bg_remove

POST /api/v1/assets/{asset_id}/addons/bg_remove was removed — it did nothing that POST /api/v1/assets/file/addons/bg_remove?asset_id= does not. It now returns 405.

📄️ Remove Background (Upload)

Remove background from an uploaded image (no asset ID in path). Use `image` as the multipart-form field name for the uploaded file.

📄️ Remove Background (Asset)

Remove background from an existing asset by asset ID. The original file for the given asset is downloaded and processed.

📄️ Remove Background (Bulk)

Remove the background from a whole selection of existing assets in one call — up to 100 asset IDs.

📄️ Limitations

The FileSpin Background Removal API uses advanced machine learning models to automatically detect and remove backgrounds from images. While the service performs well on a wide range of images, there are inherent limitations in the underlying AI technology that developers should be aware of when implementing this feature.
