Assets - Conversions

Manage custom conversion files for assets. Conversions are derivative files (e.g., edited copies, custom formats) stored alongside the original asset in cloud storage.

This section also covers the asset thumbnail: upload your own image to replace the automatically generated one, or revert to the automatic thumbnail. A user-provided thumbnail is never overwritten by the media pipeline, so it survives an original replace and any reprocessing.

📄️ Add Conversion

Use this API to upload and add a custom conversion file to an asset (such a manually edited copy of an image). The uploaded file will be stored as an asset's conversion in the Cloud Storage.

Use this API to delete a conversion file of an asset.

Use one of a video's storyboard frames as the asset's thumbnail, instead of uploading an image.

📄️ Revert Custom Thumbnail

Discard a custom thumbnail uploaded with [Upload Custom Thumbnail](/api-reference/assets/upload-asset-thumbnail-post) and go back to the automatically generated one.
